Physics of Becoming
A Transformation Management Institute Research Program
Physics of Becoming specifies the invariant dynamics by which systems persist across time.
It defines Constraint-Governed State Resolution (CGSR): a pre-interpretive process in which state transitions occur under constraint and non-viable states are eliminated without suspension, intention, or choice.
Program Overview
Physics of Becoming is a foundational program concerned with state transition under constraint. It specifies the minimal dynamics required for system persistence across time and establishes the baseline conditions assumed by all downstream programs of the Institute.
This program is positioned between System Existence Theory, which defines admissible systems, and the interpretive sciences, which address suspension, meaning, and coordination. Physics of Becoming does not depend on interpretation or meaning and introduces no normative or agentic claims.
Its function is to fix the dynamical substrate upon which interpretive, transformational, and managerial phenomena may occur.

Scope and Commitments
Physics of Becoming addresses constraint-governed state transition as a necessary condition of system persistence across time. Its claims concern pre-interpretive dynamics common to all admissible systems and exclude semantic, agentic, normative, or evaluative assumptions.
All work within this program adheres to the following commitments:
claims are non-semantic and non-deliberative; state evolution is constraint-governed rather than choice-driven; suspension, evaluation, and intention are not presumed; and applicability must extend across substrates rather than being limited to social or human systems.

The Physics of Becoming
January 2026
This paper establishes Constraint-Governed State Resolution (CGSR), the baseline condition of system persistence across time. This monograph fixes the physical substrate presupposed by all interpretive, meaning-based, and transformational analyses.
Program Position
Physics of Becoming presupposes System Existence Theory, which defines admissible system objects, and is presupposed by all interpretive, meaning-based, transformational, and managerial programs of the Institute.
This program fixes the constraint form of persistence across time that downstream sciences and professional disciplines assume without modifying. It does not address interpretive mechanisms, coordination dynamics, governance doctrine, or intervention practice.
Institute Stewardship
The Transformation Management Institute stewards a scientific canon organized around four research programs: System Existence Theory (SET), Physics of Becoming (POB), the General Theory of Interpretation (GTOI), and Transformation Science. Each program defines its own scope, terminology, and publication sequence.
The Institute publishes this work as an open-access scientific resource, operates independently of commercial activity, and protects certain names and marks to prevent misrepresentation of official terminology and standards without restricting use of the underlying scientific concepts.
Publications are versioned over time and support the Institute’s applied standards and professional disciplines.
